Prairie Dogs

I don't think many children today are very familiar with prairie dogs... at least not in my "neck of the woods." I guess it all depends on where you live. However, they seem like kind of cool animals, so this book is definitely worth considering!

Zuchora-Walske, Christine.
Let's Look at Prairie Dogs.
October 2009.
Lerner Publishing.

Summary from Barnes & Noble:

Introduces the physical characteristics, behavior, and habitat of the black-tailed prairie dog.

This factual book is presented in such a way that it won't be overwhelming to children who typically have a hard time reading and comprehending non-fiction! That's good news, especially if your child(ren) are like I was at a young age... I just could not get into the whole non-fiction scene. The photos provided definitely make the book fun to read as well! Although just one in the Animals Close-Up series, this book (and the series as a whole) would likely be a welcome addition to your bookshelves!

Activity to Use in Collaboration with this book:
  • Activity Booklet from the Prairie Dog Coalition - great for children who are eager to learn even more after reading this book!
